By car

If you are on the A2 motorway, take the B81 from Magdeburg or the A36 from Braunschweig. Please take the exit "Wernigerode Nord" or "Wernigerode Zentrum".

If you are travelling on the A14 from Halle/Leipzig, take the A36 to Wernigerode from the Bernburg junction.

If you are coming from the west, take the A7 motorway to the Rhüden junction, from there take the B82 and A36 to Wernigerode.

If you are coming from the south, Wernigerode can be reached by crossing the Harz mountains via the B4 (Erfurt-Nordhausen) and the B81 towards Blankenburg.

The campus of the Hochschule Harz is located in the district Hasserode, direction Schierke and is well indicated in the city area.


By public transport

You can reach Wernigerode easily with the trains of Deutsche Bahn and ABELLIO Rail Mitteldeutschland GmbH (abellio). The bus station is also located at Wernigerode main station. Here you can also travel daily with the long-distance buses MeinFernbus, FlixBus and Berlin Linien Bus. Train travel plans can be found here.

MeinFernbus FlixBus brings you daily directly from Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Kassel, Munich, Leipzig, Nuremberg, Berlin, Hamburg and Goslar to Wernigerode. Current departure times can be found here.

Daily the BerlinLinienBus connects the capital Berlin directly with the Harz Mountains. A journey to Wernigerode takes about 3.5 hours. Timetable information can be found here.


From Wernigerode Central Station to the Campus

Harz University of Applied Sciences is about 3 km away from the main station / bus station Wernigerode. Bus lines 201 (approx. 12 min) and 204 (approx. 22 min) direction Floßplatz/ Hasserode take you to the campus (bus stop: "Hochschule Harz") without changing ; from 19:55 there is the night line 205 (approx. 14 min). On foot you need about 40 minutes for the distance, by bicycle you need about 11 minutes. You will also find a taxi stand on site; a ride costs approx. 10 euros - the prices may vary.

Harz University of Applied Sciences also offers another special feature: it is one of the few universities in the country with an entry in the Deutsche Bahn course book; the Harz Narrow Gauge Railway (HSB) stop located directly on campus bears your name. Coming from the city centre, you can get on at the central HSB train station "Westerntor" and travel nostalgically to the campus in just a few minutes. The top of mountain Brocken, about 25 km away and the highest elevation in northern Germany, can be reached in about 1.5 hours. The timetables of the Harzer Schmalspurbahnen can be seen here.


From the centre of Wernigerode to the campus

The distance from the old town to the campus is about 2 km. You can walk along the Friedrichstraße to the university in about 25 minutes or ride your bike in about 7 minutes.

The central bus stop "Rendezvous" is located directly in the old town of Wernigerode. Bus lines 201 (approx. 6 min) and 204 (approx. 25 min) direction Floßplatz/ Hasserode take you to the campus (bus stop: "Hochschule Harz") without changing ; from 19:55 there is the night line 205 (approx. 17 min).
