Badminton

Badminton = shuttlecock? Rather not.

Badminton is a fast and running-intensive backstroke sport. The goal is to hit the ball over the net in such a way that the opponent cannot hit the ball back according to the rules. This can be achieved, for example, through smashes, tactical play offs, or precisely placed balls.

A loose wrist, responsiveness and a "quick eye" are a few prerequisites one should have for the sport. If you have your own racket, please bring it to the course.

Together with you, we would like to share our passion for ball room dance and start with the easiest steps. We will focus on discofox, Chachacha and a slow walzer. This course is for everyone who joined the beginners course last semester or already knows the basic steps. Basketball

If you want to switch off and enjoy a ball sport while studying, basketball is the right choice for you. It doesn't matter whether you already have experience or have never held a basketball before.

The first half of the training is about improving your individual skills with the ball. The focus is on the basics of dribbling, passing and finishing. The second half is played in teams against each other.

So whether you just want to do some sports or prepare for the next NBA Draft, feel free to drop by!

Bollywood Dance

Namaste Folks 

Indian film industry also known as Bollywood is famous for its dance and songs. Bollywood dance is all about expressing and enjoying yourself through “Thumkas and Jhatkas”. It is a mixture of Indian folk, Indian semi classical, Jazz, Hip-hop, Arabic and other Western dance.

So to all the people of HS Harz, I present an opportunity to dive into this dynamic world of ethnicity and elegance, where you can learn different Bollywood dance styles and how to be expressive through your dance moves.

Circle Fitness Training (Zirkeltraining)

Circle training for all students who want to train their upper as well as lower body on a regular basis. We will do this with our own body weight and properly guided strength training with dumbbells, kettlebells etc. Every week you will train all your muscles to build up strength and get your dream body. A normal workout day includes a warm up, various strength training and stretching. In addition, I will also give instructions for proper nutrition.

The fitness cellar is well equipped and does have multifunctional machines like a leg press. Every student is able to use it for a fee. If there are any questions about the usage of the machines, there is going to be staff who you can ask.
You need to register online and after the payment you can use it by showing your student ID.

Flag Football

American football is the most common sport in the United States, and is increasingly gaining ground in Germany. Flag football, is a version of American football where physical contact is to be avoided.  It is a good way to get to know the sport and the basic requirements. Special feature of the flag football: There is no distinction between sexes, because men and women play in the mix teams.

The Focus of training is placed on fun, in order to cope with yet relatively unknown sport. We are going to play different types of football: Flag Football, Hawaii Football and, if possible, American Football. During the training, we will also develop our own moves, which we will, of course, practice again and again.

If it is possible and there is interest from your side, we can also participate in competitions.

Floorball

It is a mixture of hockey inside and ice hockey. You will have a lot of fun, movement and improve not only your persistence, but playing in a team as well.
It do not matter if you have experience or not, because the fun counts. Floorball is a sport for young and old, for women and men, and it also increases your performance - so it makes you fit for your studies!
Bring in suitable, comfortable cloths - other stuff you will get from us.

Fullbody Stretching (Ganzkörper-Stretching) - ONLINE

You want to become more flexible, or have frequent tension? Then you are right with me!

In full-body stretching, we stretch the entire body with targeted exercises. It doesn't matter how stretchy you already are, we will eventually become more stretchy over the course of the semester.

How does the course work? Since I am currently doing an internship, I only offer the course ONLINE via Zoom, so you can take part from the comfort of your own home. No worries! You don't have to turn on the camera and all you need is a mat or carpet as a base. We take about 45 minutes to relaxed music, to first relax and then to intensively stretch all possible parts of the body. I am also open to requests and try to cover all areas from unit to unit. And if necessary, I'm happy to add a little meditation at the end.

Full Body Workout

The complete package of muscle building, fat burning and Team Spirit. Together we overcome the internal pig dog and sweat with varied exercises and training types such as HIIT or circle training to motivate music. Whether with weights, sliders, the step board or just with the pure body weight we train the main muscle groups and increase our fitness. After a warmup we combine different strength and endurance exercises while standing and on the mat and finish with a well-deserved relaxed stretching. Thanks to varios alternatives, everyone can increase their own fitness level and enjoy personal training successes.

High-Kick-Dance

Have you ever dreamed about being able to do a split? If yes, you should join my high-kick course, in which we will hopefully achieve this goal through lots of stretching. “High-kick” is a specific move in the dance scene. The person performing this move is kicking its leg as high as possible. Mostly known as the rockettes,
a show dance figure consisting of a series of dancers who throw their legs synchronised up to eye level in the air, forming a straight line. But also modern dance styles use this move. If you want to know more about it, I suggest to have a look on YouTube. During the course we will stretch a lot and work on our fitness with rope skipping. And will learn a choreography. To join you don’t need any experience. Fun and constituency will help to achieve our goal.

Hiking (Wandern)

Are you new to the Harz and would like to get to know your local area better? Or have you already been living here for a while, but haven't yet discovered as much of the Harz as you would like to? Then sign up for the hiking course!

Exercise is good, fresh air is good, and it's even better in combination. But who hasn't experienced it? Sometimes it's hard for me, too, to get up on my own and overcome my inner obstacle to go outside. But together we can motivate each other and make a commitment to do something for our health on a regular basis. If you also enjoy being out in nature and want to make new contacts, then this course is just right for you.

This semester, I would like to explore the Harz Mountains with you and go on a stamp hunt. The course is suitable for both beginners and advanced hikers. The routes are varied, sometimes shorter in and around Wernigerode, sometimes longer to several stamping points at once.

Jogging (beginners)

You just want to get some fresh air, exercise and recover from the stress of studying? Then this is the right jogging group for you! Together we run routes of different lengths. The network of paths around the campus is ideal for this. The duration and length of the routes will be adjusted to the needs of the group. If there is interest, interval runs can also be done at a later time. The focus is on the fun of exercise, relaxation during the run and an all-around better body feeling. You will be rewarded with increased fitness and endurance for everyday life. Sport is more fun together, so I am looking forward to everyone joining me!

Legs, Bums & Tums (Bauch, Beine, Po (BBP))

The classic among fitness classes. With effective strength and endurance exercises, the muscle groups abdomen, legs and buttocks are trained and toned. Through varied combinations and motivating music, each course is different and thanks to various alternatives, everyone can increase their own fitness level. The class consists of a warm-up, various exercises in standing position and on the mat and ends with a well-deserved relaxed stretching. Whether with dumbbells, therabands, sliders, step board or with your own body weight, it will definitely not be boring!

Modern Dance

Do you love to dance, or do you just want to give it a try?

Then come to Modern Dance! This kind of dance is not only about movement, but also about your emotions. We will do a warm-up together, then we will work out a choreography for a suitable song. But don’t worry, the choreography will adapt to your skills, so that there is something for everyone and everyone is challenged. Spinal Gymnastics (Wirbelsäulengymnastik)

Who does not know tensions in neck and back? To minimize them we are going to do some exercises to stretch, to flex and to relax. You are going to get your mobility back and train your muscles in your belly to have a better body posture.
There will be exercises to strengthen your whole back, only with your body weight or wooden stick. Each unit is finished with some stretching exercises or a relaxation section. If you want to go straight through college life, then join my spine class.

Step Choreo Aerobics

When you hear Step Aerobics, do you think of Jane Fonda? Misconceived, Step Aerobics isn´t an old-fashioned workout in a body and cuffs. It is not only an endurance training, which is a lot of fun, it also burns many calories and strengthens and tightens the leg- and buttmusculature at the same time. We work out new choreographies from different basic steps to motivating music. You can look forward to learning more variations each time and improving your coordination and condition. It does not get boring and during achieving personal training successes a lot of happiness hormones are released.

Sence of  rhythm you should definitely bring along; also sneakers and something to drink and than let´s go.

Tennis

Tennis is a sport that can be played at any age. For this sport you need stamina, strength and ball feeling. Therefore, the university sports department has again reserved tennis times.

A maximum of 4 players can play on one tennis court. If you would like to register online for a course, please note that this is for 1 participant court (not a complete tennis court). The training or playing partner (if available) must register separately. No instructor or trainer will be provided.

Additional information: the following information will be given to students for the course.

Volleyball (beginner & advanced)

You want to be the queen or the king on the volleyball court? Then the volleyball course is just right for you, because no master has fallen from the sky!

Volleyball is a sport that connects, is fun and can be played almost anywhere. Depending on your previous knowledge, you can improve your skills in either the beginner or advanced course. We train in the hall and are looking forward to you!

We will prepare the respective training sessions according to your needs.

This league will be approx. every third Thursday, on these days isn´t a normal training.
