Since May 2021, universities of applied sciences in Saxony-Anhalt have been able to award independently doctoral degrees to their young researchers. We work together with our partner universities in the state of Saxony-Anhalt on a cross-university basis.
In the inter-university doctoral centre "Engineering Sciences and Information Technologies" (IWIT), interested students can do their doctorate at Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Harz University of Applied Sciences or Merseburg University of Applied Sciences, depending on their focus. The doctoral centre "Social, Health and Economic Sciences" (SGW) is a doctoral centre founded by all four universities.
Here, young researchers can obtain the following academic degrees:
The doctoral students of the doctoral centre SGW aim to contribute to answering the increasingly complex questions in the field of tension between the individual and society. In the context of the doctorate, interdisciplinary research approaches as well as the regional and supra-regional transfer of research results should play a role.
The PhD students of the IWIT PhD centre contribute to meeting the future challenges regarding digitalisation, artificial intelligence, climate change and sustainability. It therefore bundles marketable ideas and innovative power and thus shapes the technological change towards a sustainable society.
