
This scholarship awards students for their outstanding volunatry engagement.
Please note that your commitment must have an international, cultural, social, sport or academic focus, either at the university level or in the city or Wernigerode/ the Harz region.
STIBET scholarships are funded by the DAAD with funds from the Federal Foreign Office.

Only international students with a foreign university entrance qualification who are enrolled in a degree programme at Harz University of Applied Sciences as full-time students can apply.
Exchange students are not eligable.

Please note that the scholarship is not a remuneration for an activity, but rather a recognition of voluntary engagement that has already been performed or is currently ongoing. A link with employment relationships is excluded. The scholarship is awarded according to transparent, uniform criteria – regardless of origin, gender, religion, or other personal characteristics. Equal treatment, diversity, and equal opportunity are an integral part of the selection process.

Recipients are generally allowed to work while receiving the scholarship. The maximum threshold for income from scholarships and employment for students is €1,248.
If you are receiving another scholarship, additional funding is allowed up to the level of a full scholarship (€992 per month). Any amount exceeding this must be deducted from the STIBET scholarship.
If you receive social welfare (e.g. citizen's benefit, accommodation allowance), please consult your caseworker in advance to determine if and how the STIBET scholarship affects your benefits.
There is no legal entitlement to receive the scholarship. Applicants will be informed in writing about the selection outcome. Individual explanations for acceptance or rejection will not be provided.
