How can I apply?

Unfortunately, you cannot apply for this award yourself!

You can be nominated for this prize by a teacher in your faculty or by higher education institutions if you meet the nomination requirements.
It is best to talk to your lecturers to see if they would nominate you.

What counts for the selection?

For your nomination and selection, your academic achievements and your socio-social or (inter)cultural commitment count in equal parts.
Are you active in clubs etc. at the university or outside of your study life? For example, do you pursue a hobby that is socially valuable? Do you do voluntary work?

Then you have great qualifications to be nominated!

What documents must be submitted with a nomination?

  • Proof(s) of your commitment
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Current certificate of marks
  • Current certificate of enrolment (young graduates: certificate of exmatriculation)
  • Copy of passport/residence permit

  • nomination form filled in by the recommending person

All documents need to be submitted by the person recommending a student to the International Committee.

How is the person to be awarded selected?

The person to be awarded is selected internally at the university. After the deadline for submitting recommendations has passed, the International Committee of the Harz University of Applied Sciences selects them from all nominated students.

Are nominated students allowed to receive other awards or funding in parallel?

Yes. In addition to the DAAD Award, nominated students may also receive funding from another institution, organisation (including the DAAD itself), company or foundation.

If the selection criteria are equally met, priority may be given to a person who does not receive parallel funding.

How does the award ceremony take place?

The award ceremony takes place within the framework of a public university event (e.g. campus festival, vernissage, ...).
