News

In August and September 2023, I was invited as a visiting scholar at University of Hawai'i at Manoa. I worked on research projects analysing public administrations in turbulent times at the College for Social Sciences.

In 2022 and 2023, the Hans Sauer Stiftung will fund Prof. Nolte's research on public administration during crises. The project analyzes change in the public administration during the Covid-19 pandemic. It studies how the crisis accelerated changes in process management and digitalization and how these changes can benefit the future public administration.

During the summer term 2022, we welcomed several guest lectures. In April, Maria Bergmann and Matthias Dederichs from Deutschlandstiftung Integration visited our introductory course to public administration and talked about their project "Vielfalt im Amt" ("Diversity in the office") that tries to foster a more diverse, culturally aware public administration. We also welcomed Ann-Christin Solas from Save the Children to our course in Public Management.

During the winter term 2021/22, we welcomed two guest lecturers again. Axel Jahn, director of the Loki Schmidt Foundation in Hamburg, introduced the foundation's activities and their strategy. Kathleen Altman who directs the Office for Controlling at the municipality of Tangerhütte, discussed how the municipality introduced new measures during the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have also developed an EVM plus program for the winter term 2021/22. This is a series of events tailored to the interests of our students of the degree in European Public Management. We offer meetings with alumni and organizations with international outreach, such as the GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit), among others.

During the summer term 2021, we welcomed several guest lecturers. On 31.05.21, we had two talks in the classes “Introduction to Public Administration” and “Public Management” that were part of our Sustainability Week. In the class on Public Administration, Andreas Brohm, mayor of the municipality of Tangerhütte, and his digital team gave a virtual guest lecture on e-government. In the class on Public Management, we heard from the nonprofit organization Viva con Agua. Christian Wiebe, head of water projects at Viva con Agua, spoke about the importance of implementing social projects for climate protection.
