My research and teaching areas: Geoinformatics; Data Engineering; Image Processing; Scientific methodology
Some remarks in English:
Geoinformatics is an interdisciplinary discipline at the interface between different sciences, e. g. Computer Science, Geosciences, Cartography, Digital Visualisation and Data Analysis.
In my lectures, and in Research, I am concerned with the analysis of spatial data using Geographical Information Services (GIS). The identification of useful information from digital images is part of this. Data Engineering, as it unifies databases and more recent forms of data processing, includes questions on data quality, data context, and interoperability. As an umbrella, I work adn teach principles of scienctifc working and writing.
Special (application-) fields that I am interested in concern regional planning, climate change adaptation (especially water management), urban development, and destination management.
My lectures and seminars are always integrated with examples from "real live" and combined with practical exercises. Supervising of Bachelor-, and Master theses, as well as doctoral theses are an important part of my work.

Geoinformatik ist eine interdisziplinäre Disziplin an der Schnittstelle verschiedener Wissenschaften. Ich vertrete die Geoinformatik in ihren sehr unterschiedlichen Facetten: Geo-Informationssysteme (GIS), Bildverarbeitung, mobile und kontextsensitive Systeme, Data Engineering.
Zum Lehrangebot gehören Vorlesungen, Seminare, Übungen, Wahlpflichtfächer und Teamprojekte, ich betreue Bachelor-, Master- und Doktorarbeiten.
