Preference (In-)Stability: A Matter of Context

Understanding practices of open-source software development: Between uncertainties, ambiguities and silence

Promotion am Promotionszentrum „Sozial- Gesundheits- und Wirtschaftswissenschaften" (SGW)

I am a researcher from Argentina with a background in Science and Technology Studies (STS). I work in the areas of artificial intelligence and ethics, open-source communities and feminist tech collectives, and have expertise in science and technology policy and governance as well as knowledge management. My career has been concerned with understanding the cultural, ethical, political, and socio-economic aspects of complex techno-scientific developments, such as nuclear ore mining, biorefineries, disaster management platforms or artificial intelligence. Currently, I am a research associate in the project INKleSS (Understanding the Importance of Non-Knowledge for Software Engineering on Social-Coding Platforms) led by Prof. Dr. Alena Bleicher, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Leich and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jacob Krüger. With my dissertation I would like to understand dynamics of knowledge/non-knowledge in open-source communities, and how these unfold in different socio-technical assemblages and through diverse social practices. At the same time, I hope to provide input for the development of strategies for better managing non-knowledge in the context of software development teams, particularly in open-source projects.
